Alternative to compress and extract ZIP and RAR files
Its visual aspect is definitely not one of the strongest aspects of Open RAR, but it works perfectly. With a very Windows Phone 8 looking design, it looks slightly out of date and old. However, despite using its design, it wasn't released with Windows 8, although it's compatible with the latter as well as Windows 10. The operating system itself was quite a disaster, mainly due to the changes it introduced, so this developer couldn't have chosen a worse interface. Probably due to this reason, this application is doomed to be a failure even before leaving the Windows Store.
Opening ZIP and RAR without any frills
It's not even too easy to easy because to be able to make the most of it, we'll need to spend five or ten minutes browsing through all its options. The fact that it isn't as intuitive as it should be might be due to the Windows 8 guidelines that weren't the best in this sense.
Not very intuitive, but useful.
On the other hand, the application does exactly what it promises to do: compress and extract any RAR or ZIP file, both with and without a password. In the first case, we'll obviously need the key to be able to decrypt all the files within the compressed folder.
Open RAR is very lightweight, as it only weighs just over 2 MB, which makes it ideal to be used on tablets and mobile devices (not smartphones, since it's not compatible with Windows Phone 8 or Windows 10 phones) with a shortage of internal storage space.
This application obviously has nothing to do with the OpenOffice suite, even if its name may lead us to confusion.
